Mom tries to sell kids on Facebook
Misty VanHorn just gave new meaning to the slang word, BOGO, or “buy one, get one” when she offered a package deal of $4,000 for her two kids on Facebook.
She hoped to sell the older child for $1,000 or both for $4,000 reports Mashable.
What would make a mother even consider selling her kids, much less think that the trafficking of minors was a good idea?
Well, after listing her 10-month old and 2 year-old, VanHorn found out the hard way that it’s not okay to sell your kids like a sofa or spare tire.
The 22-year old woman was arrested Saturday after messaging an interested Fort Smith, Ark. woman: "Just come to Sallisaw, it's only 30 minutes away and I'll give you all of her stuff and let y'all have her forever for $1,000.”
VanHorn told investigators that she needed the money to bail her boyfriend out of jail.
The children were placed custody of the state's department of human services and VanHorn is being held on a $40,000 bond.
